Congratulations on a Successful Concert!

Congratulations at all who performed last Thursday!  The performances were well done.  The students should be proud of the work they accomplished!

Winter Concert 1 Week from Today!

Our Winter Concert is one week away!  It is Thursday, December 13th in the Large Gym at GWMS.  The performance starts at 7pm.  All family and freinds coming to listen to the concert can enter GWMS through door #4.

The students in orchestra should arrive by 6pm for warm-up and tuning; the students in band should arrive by 6:15pm.  All students should enter through door #2.

All band and orchestra students are to wear their GWMS Music Department polo shirt, black dress pants, black socks, and black dress shoes.

The performance is estimated to be 1 hour and 15 minutes.  All students are expected to stay for the entire concert.

Winter Concert Details for all band and orchestra students!

Our winter concert is 2 weeks from today!  The concert is on Thursday, December 13th and it starts at 7pm in the large gym at GWMS.  The students were given a hard copy of the details for their performance today; there is also an electronic copy linked on this page.  Please let me know if you have any questions. 

6th Grade Band to Book 2!

The 6th grade band has completed Book 1 and is now on to Book 2 of the Essential Elements 2000 series.  The flyer that the students got yesterday is posted.  Congrats to the band on this accomplishment!

8th Grade Band Workshop-Final Details

The final details are now posted for the 8th Grade Band Workshop at LT!  Thank you to those who are able to make it.  It is going to be a great experience.  Check out the link for everything you need to know about the event.

Order your GWMS Music Department Polo Shirt

Now is the time to order your music department polo shirt!  This is the shirt that we will use as part of our concert attire.  Please get your order in to Mr. Rauch by Tuesday, October 30th.  The order form is linked on this page.

8th Grade Orchestra Workshop at LTHS

The 8th grade orchestra students will be participating in the 8th Grade Orchestra Workshop at Lyons Township High School on Thursday, November 1st.  The students take a field trip over to LTHS North Campus for the workshop with the LT orchestra directors and then present a performance that evening!  The details are linked on this page.  Our students will need a ride to LTHS for the evening performance.  They need to arrive by 6:40, the concert ends at approximately 9:15.  Click here for a map and directions.

8th Grade Band Workshop at LTHS

Posted on this page is a letter about the 8th Grade Band Workshop at LTHS on Tues., Nov., 6th, which is a Teacher Institute, a non-attendance day for students.  Mr. Rauch needs to find out who is interested and able to attend the event.  Please read the letter and return or email a copy of the signed Interest/Permission Slip by Wed., Oct. 17th.  A hard copy was sent home with the 8th grade band students today.  Contact Mr. Rauch if you have any questions.

Private Lesson Information

Private lessons are 1 on 1 instruction with a professional on your instrument.  These lessons ensure a student's continued progress and enhance a students musical experience.

Information about private lessons has been posted to this site.  Mr. Rauch also has a list of private teachers in the area.  Please send him an email if you would like a copy of that list. 

Take advantage of this opportunity!  It is well worth it!

Great Job Last Friday!

I would like to say how well the 7th and 8th grade band students did on Friday!  Despite the on and off rain and chilly temperatures they performed like rock stars!  Great job by all who were there!

LTHS MS Band Night-Weather Update

The forecast for tomorrow night's LTHS Band Night is for chilly temperatures and the possibility of rain.  The students should still report to LT South Campus (directions from GWMS) at 4:50.  It is recommended that they dress warm.  In the event of rain the students will be brought inside with the hope of waiting it out so they can still experience the halftime performance.  The students will be free to leave as soon as halftime is over, which could be anywhere from 8:15-8:45.

Middle School Band Night Information

The information for the Middle School Band Night at LTHS, which involves GWMS 7th and 8th grade band students, is now posted on this site.  The event is on Friday, September 21st.  The students will need to arrive at LTHS South Campus around 4:50pm.  Check the link for more details.

8th Grade Band New Method Book

The students in 8th Grade Band are ready for their next method book!  Very soon they will be starting Essential Technique 2000.  This is the 3rd book of the Essential Elements 2000 series.  Each student should bring their appropriate payment by Wednesday, September 12th.  You can click on the link to view the handout that was sent home.  Email or call Mr. Rauch if you have any questions.

Instruments on Tuesday

The school year is off and running!  The students will be playing their instruments for the first time in class on Tuesday, September 4th.  Make sure your instrument is ready to go!
