Congratulations to the Symphonic and Concert Orchestras on a wonderful performance last night!  The students did a very nice job performing for a standing room only audience.  Well done!

Winter Concerts Approaching!

This year's Winter Concerts are approaching!  The Winter Orchestra Concert is Thurs., Dec. 12th and the Winter Band Concert is Tues., Dec. 17th.  Both will start at 7pm and be held in the Multipurpose Room at GWMS.  Check out the flyer for each on the side of this page!

Well Done 8th Grade Band!

The 8th grade band members is a wonderful job Friday evening at the Lyons Township High School Band Night event.  The students performed well and represented GWMS with pride.  That was a great way to start off our year!  Well done!

Free Chicago Symphony Orchestra Concert at Morton East HS

Mr. Rauch to Perform at FitzGerald's in Berwyn

Hey all!  I hope summer is going well for you.  I wanted to let you know of a performance that I am going to be involved in.  This Sunday, June 30th, at 6:00pm I am playing with the VanderCook College of Music Graduate Jazz Band as the opener for the Pete Ellman Big Band.  The performance is at FitzGerald's Jazz Club in Berwyn.  Admission is $10, but $5 for those 17 and under.  Come and check it out if you can!  More info here.

Summer is here!

Congrats on making it to th end of another school year!  Lots of hard work was put in this school year and it paid off with some excellent perforances.  I have attached the lists of what to practice to help guide your summer practicing.  Also, don't forget to check out the summer camps at LTHS and/or private lessons!  It is very important to keep playing during the summer so you are ready to go when school resumes Wednesday, August 28th. 

Spring Concerts are Next Week!

Our Spring Concerts will soon be here!  The Orchestras and GWMS Choir perform on Tuesday, May 21st and the Bands perform on Thursday, May 23rd.  Both performances begin at 7pm and will be held at GWMS.  The flyer with call times and attire is linked to this page.  See you there!

May 2013 Q and F School of the Month!

Exciting news!  Our band and orchestra program has been awarded the May 2013 "School of the Month."  There will be a month-long display of GWMS music items and trophies at the Quinlan and Fabish store in Burr Ridge.  All students also qualify for a special 10% discount on instruments, print music, and accessories.  Stop in over there and check it out!

Yearbook Pictures Tomorrow

All band and orchestra students are reminded to wear their black GWMS Music Department polo shirt to school tomorrow (Friday, March 22nd).  We will be taking our pictures for the yearbook.

High Note Festival Information Now Posted!

The first round of information about the Symphonic Band and Symphonic Orchestra's High Note Festival performance is now posted.  This is the same flyer that was handed out today to the students.

Congrats on Solo and Ensemble Contest

Congratulations to the students who participated in today's Solo and Ensemble Contest!  Each of you should be proud of the work and effort you displayed during this entire process.  You all should be very proud of yourselves!

Mr. Rauch to Perform with Fox Valley Concert Band

Come see Mr. Rauch perform in the trumpet section of the Fox Valley Concert Band!  The FVCB performs on Sat., Mar. 3rd at 3pm at the Norris Cultural Center in St. Charles.  This is a special performance because the band joins the stage with the Kaneland Middle School Band.  Click here for directions and more information!  By the way, it's free!

ValuCard Fundraiser

It's back!  The GWMS Music Department is once again selling America's ValuCard.  The sale runs through Friday, March 1st.  Earn a half price end of the year trip when you sell 5 cards or earn a free trip when you sell 10 cards!  Good luck!

March Madness Info.

The Patriot Pep Band (the 7th and 8th grade bands) will be playing at March Madness on Sat., Mar. 2nd.  You can find the flyer with all of the details linked on this page.

Patriot Pep Band to Perform National Anthem at the Chicago Steel

The Patriot Pep Band (7th and 8th grade bands) is performing the National Anthem at a Chicago Steel Hockey game on Wed., Feb. 20th.  The flyer that went out is linked on this page.  The $4 for the student ticket and permission slip is due on Wed., Feb 13th.

Orchestra Festival on Feb. 8th

The Symphonic Orchestra is participating in a festival on Fri., Feb., 8th.  The festival is at Pleasantdale Middle School and is during the school day.  The students get to work with guest director Richard Clark.  The students perform at 1pm; anyone who is able to make it is encouraged to attend!

6th Grade Orchestra-Moving up to Book 2!

The 6th grade orchestra has just about finished their first book and are now ready to move on to their next book!  Their new book is called, Essential Elements 2000, Book 2.  The flyer that was given to the students is linked on this page.  The book costs $8.  Please bring your payment in by Friday, Jan. 18th.
